Forged, sculpted and brushed stainless steel railings and doors now accent each floor of the house. With each renovation project it has been a challenge to carefully balance the new with the old. Wherever possible I sought to retain the period details and wood trim while adding a consistent material palette of mahogany, stainless steel and marble tile. Douglas Fir floor boards were carefully removed prior to demolition and saved for use in creating the kitchen cabinetry. Kurt Piper of Piper Woodworking did an incredible job using this salvaged lumber to fashion the drawer and cabinet faces - resulting in a perfect match across all wood surfaces.
