Combining modern technology with old world craft.
Our team tackles problems with a variety of experience and backgrounds. Sometimes the solution is a precision machining operation. Sometimes, its a large hammer….
our process
the hands-on approach
Every project we take on is different, and every project has different constraints.
Our work is completely custom, with no catalogs, brochures or modular systems.
All objects and elements are made to order, guaranteed as specified.
We deliver work anywhere and we ship only the finest quality fit and finish, without compromise.
Designers, craftspeople and leads are involved in a project from beginning to end, ensuring consistency, quality and timely delivery.

When Salmon Studios is brought on, it is akin to hiring a project consultant. The capabilities and expertise of the Salmon team are at the design team’s disposal, along with our talents for developing new and exciting material finishes specific to a project.
Initial interactions are normally comprised of a series of reviews, with a goal of fully understanding the designer or architect’s vision of the project. We want to understand how we can best support this vision, either through in-house design and detailing, sourcing or collaborating with adjacent trades, or bespoke finishes and textures.

Whether a complete metals package or a standalone piece of furniture, the full service approach applies. Our in house design team has delivered hundreds of one-off metal projects, all with their own unique challenges.
Effective communication and the ability to handle collaborating trades means we can seamlessly deliver more complicated mixed-media objects and packages, such as operable glazed assemblies and built-in millwork.
Our designers are our project managers. This is a fulfilling arrangement for designers who love to be hands on, but also increases efficiency when a project goes into fabrication.

Salmon Studios is unique in its approach to custom work. Designers, craftspeople and project leads are involved in a project from beginning to end, ensuring consistency, quality and timely delivery. The shop floor has the capability to run lengths of finely finished trim and inlay, create metal and wood interior and furniture assemblies, and even full height mockups of operable gates and doors. In-process work is available for review during the project.
We employ proven, hand applied finishing methods, provide supporting documentation and have the ability to deliver work anywhere.
old v. new
two sides of the same coin…
Whether its a 1920s gear driven machine, or a 2020s CNC controlled mill - the metalworking knowledge and attention to detail are the same. From hammers to advanced cad systems to 3D printers, we utilize a wide variety of skills and equipment to achieve our goals.
